Waiting For The Promised Land
Often we can see the horizon ahead and want to be there already. It’s the waiting seasons where God is telling us and showing us a peek of what’s ahead, while saying to trust Him. Like a child that keeps asking during that long car trip, “Are we there yet?!?” God seems to do the same with us sometimes. We are His children after all.
But it’s in the waiting that the real awe and wonder lie. It’s in those moments, if we let them, that we can listen and have tender, deep moments with one another. Some profound. Some fun. But always enriching. If we let it.
What is God calling you to wait for? Sit and listen with Him on this journey path He has you waiting. You want your mountain peak moment to be here right now. But God is saying to wait and sit with Him. Are you sitting with Him in this waiting season? Or are you nervously, anxiously, impatiently pacing back and forth in silence and in your head? Ask yourself why. And then bring your troubles to Him. All of it.
He’s waiting with you, and I think that is what most of us forget. Just because it’s quiet and things aren’t moving or shifting in the way we want it to, it is not proof that we have an absent God. In fact, the Bible tells us the opposite:
Isaiah 41:10: “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand”.
Matthew 28:20: “…And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age”.
Joshua 1:9: “…Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go”.
Psalm 23:4: “Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me”.
Matthew 1:23: “…They shall call his name Immanuel, which means, God with us”.
Deuteronomy 31:6: “…for the LORD your God goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you”.
Romans 8:38-39: Assures that nothing can separate believers from the love of God.
Exodus 33:14: “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest”.
We have a very present God. He is not just watching from above, but He is in our midst. And He knows, my friend. He knows the weight that you and I carry on this very treacherous journey. He knows!
So don’t let the enemy convince you otherwise. Don’t let Satan bait you into believing that you are invisible, not known, not heard, not seen by our ever-present, loving God. Don’t take it! Instead, lift your head, resist the devil, swing your Sword, and declare His Word of Truth!
No weapon formed against me shall prosper… (Isaiah 54:17)
What you intended for evil, God will use for good… (Gen. 50:20)
Greater is He that is in me, than he that is in the world… (1 John 4:4)
He knows the plans He has for me… (Jer. 29:11)
And I know He causes all things to work together for good… (Rom. 8:28)
He will restore everything that the locusts have eaten away… (Joel 2:25)
Our God is mighty and able, my friend. Even when things look bleak, remember, our God sees the whole plan He has for us. It’s an opportunity and calling to trust in Him, lean and depend on Him, cry out to Him, come to Him, and rest in Him.
Trust He’s with you on this journey. Trust that He knows what’s ahead and what’s in the hearts of all people. Trust that He loves you so much that like any loving parent would, He will steer your path (if you let Him). He is watching your every step, and His love does not fail us. It doesn’t. The devil is a liar. Don’t receive the lies that he wants you to believe in.
God knows His path and plans for you, and they are good. You can’t see the whole terrain. But He does. Trust Him.
Trust that on the other side of all this is The Promised Land. Just remain steady with Him. When you’re too weary to walk, let Him carry you. When your arms are too tired to raise, let your safe others raise them up for you. He’s with you, my friend. And He knows what’s at stake. So does the enemy. Trust that He is leading you to your still waters. He IS our Good Shepherd.
Love,
Your sister on the journey with you
